BUILT FROM THE SALES FLOOR

The work between
the leads and the keys.

I started LotTrail because I wanted to spend less time putting cars online. The more I worked on it, the more everyday sales tasks I wanted to make easier.

A NOTE FROM THE CREATOR

Michael Melton II

I have very little patience for repetitive work. If I’m copying the same information over and over, I’m going to find a way to stop doing it.

I’d tried posting cars on Facebook Marketplace, but I was never consistent. Between saving photos, entering the details and writing each listing, the time I put in rarely felt worth the response I got. It was easy to put it off.

Other automotive software gave me the idea to make posting easier. I started there, then kept thinking of things I wanted it to do beyond the listing. That’s how LotTrail began.

WHERE I’M TAKING IT

It started with a listing.
I want it to do more.

My goal is to automate as much of the repetitive part of a salesperson’s job as I can: preparing listings, pulling together vehicle details, comparing cars and keeping track of what needs attention. Those are things I deal with myself, so every feature and update starts with my own ideas and experience on the sales floor.

LotTrail isn’t finished. It’s a passion project I’m building, using and improving as I go. I’m putting the effort in now because I think the time it could save will be worth it—for me and, eventually, for other salespeople too.

Down the road, I want to offer it to my coworkers and salespeople at other dealerships for much less than competing software. That’s the goal I’m building toward. For now, I’m focused on making something useful enough that I’ll actually keep using it.
